Cactus fruit in the sacramento mountains
Now we're moving deeper into New Mexico, on the ascension to the first mountain ridge with White Sands on the other side. This can't be very far up, because the climate is still hot enough for cacti to grow. This specific specimen sports shiny yellow fruit, although I'm not sure if they're not really flowers in disguise.
