Bandera volcano lava, in front of the ice cave

The cave has formed in an old lava duct. The picture shows the rubble where the ceiling of that duct has collapsed. Since the lava rock is a very good thermal insulator, and neither the sun nor eny wind never get into that cave, it never gets warmed up. This makes it possible that ice formed in winter doesn't melt away again in summer. Kind of like a mini glacier.

One of the last occasions to pee into the general direction of the atlantic ocean. I would cross the water divide soon thereafter.
