Variable Mirror Louvers

This is basically a concave mirror louver cut into half, where the normal jalousie rotation only affects one half of each element. Depending on the position of the flap, the system performs various degrees of redirection and solar protection, while still allowing a certain degree of clear vision.

Simulation Notes

The individual slats are available in widths of 80 mm, 50 mm and 25 mm. The Raydirect geometry file is modelled with 80 mm, if the exact visible size is important, scale with 0.635 resp. 0.3125.

The mirror polish is normally only applied to the upper (concave) surface, the backside gets a diffuse coating. Raydirect assumes mirror polish on both sides, and may therefore predict higher luminances than observed in reality when looking at the window from a lower point of view from the inside.
