LIF Acrylic Profiles

Diagram of LIF acrylic profiles

System Specification

Type: acrylic profiles
Mounting: embedded in double glazing
Material: acrylic
Surface: refractive
Width: 11.4 mm
Moveability: fixed

Simulation Notes

The edge of the profiles pointing towards the room is not straight, but modulated with a sinus wave. This helps to concentrate incident light from side angles towards the normal axis of the window, so it will penetrate deeper into the room. Raydirect ignores this effect.

The straight flank of each profile pointing towards the room may receive a strip of a diffuse coating. This coating is available in several densities/colors, and helps to reduce luminances when looking up at the window, without affecting the light redirecting properties of the system. Raydirect does not model this effect, and is therefore likely to overestimate direct luminances.
