Rayfront Update

Rayfront 1.0.1 Update

Changes from 1.0 to 1.0.1:

  • The program version string is changed to "Rayfront 1.0.1".
  • Rayfront now works with IntelliCAD 2000 in exactly the same way as it already does with AutoCAD R14/2000.
  • The image converter loads all images correctly on Windows.
  • Importing views from AutoCAD works correctly.
  • Pressing <return> or <space> while creating a measuring field in AutoCAD doesn't produce an error.
  • Luminaire data assignments are stored in a platform transparent format on Windows.
  • Simulations on unix can handle input files that were edited with a text editor on Windows, containing lines ending with a <CR/NL> character sequence instead of just a <NL> character.
  • The simulation previewer Rview on Windows works a lot better and has become much more robust. The exact details are highly technical, but the fixed problems include:
    • Incorrect "Possible modifier loop" errors eliminated.
    • Memory consumption and related crash potential reduced.
    • The simulation is restarted correctly on parameter changes.
    • The window can be resized and the simulation will restart with the new size.
    • Undocking the tool bar works without crashing.
    • Selecting a frame of one pixel on screen, or "f all" in the command bar resets to simulating the full size image.
  • Online documentation for the previewer programs on unix and Windows has been added.
  • Fixed bug that prevented some simulations from starting on certain Windows systems.
  • Other minor fixes and updates to the online documentation.

Installing on Windows

The installer for Windows can be downloaded here (2441306 bytes).

Double click on the installer "rf101update.exe", and select the installation directory of your existing Rayfront 1.0 installation. The installer will then determine wich platforms your installation supports, and update all required components. The installer will refuse to proceed if no existing Rayfront installation is found.

Installing on Unix Systems

The installer for unix systems can be downloaded here (2156243 bytes).

You will need the GNU gunzip program to decompress the archive, and tar to extract the files from it:

 $> gunzip rf101update.tgz
 $> tar xf rf101update.tar

This will create a directory "rf101update". Cd into this directory, and run the "install.ksh" shell script. You can make this script executable with chmod(1) and run it directly, or run a ksh with the file name as argument:

 $> ksh install.ksh
Please enter the directory of your existing
 Rayfront installation:
   [/usr/local/rayfront] :

The script will ask you for the location of your existing Rayfront installation. It will then determine wich platforms your installation supports, and update all required components after a final confirmation. The installer will refuse to proceed if no existing Rayfront installation is found.
