Sky and Ground Details

Sky Details

The sky details determine the visual appearance of the sky in a simulation. Those settings are not normally relevant for the numerical accuracy of a simulation.

Use Default Sky Color
If this checkbox is activated, then the color of the sky will be determined automatically depending on the type of sky used (the clearer the sky, the bluer the color)

Sky Color:
Edit the color of the sky directly. Note that only the actual color value will be used, the brightness of the sky is always determined by the sky model in use. This means that eg. the colors of [0.4 0.4 0.6] and [0.2 0.2 0.3] are equivalent.

Sky Map:
You can select an image from the library to be mapped to the sky hemisphere. This is a way to define more interesting skys with clouds and other features. Note that the use of a sky map may interfere with the radiance values as determined by the sky model in use. Do not use sky maps if you want to get realistic daylight values, unless the average image brightness of the map image is normalized to one and it's brightness distribution doesn't interfere with the one defined by the sky model.

Ground Details

The ground details determine the visual appearance of the ground hemisphere in a simulation. Those settings are not normally relevant for the numerical accuracy of a simulation.

Use Default Ground Color
If this checkbox is activated, then the color of the ground will be automatically set to a greenish brown.

Ground Color:
Edit the color of the ground directly. Note that only the actual color value will be used, the brightness of the ground is always determined by the ground model in use. This means that eg. the colors of [0.6 0.6 0.4] and [0.3 0.3 0.2] are equivalent.

Ground Map:
You can select an image from the library to be mapped to the ground hemisphere. This is a way to define a more interesting ground than the standard plain colored one. Note that the use of a ground map may interfere with the radiance values as determined by the sky model in use. Do not use ground maps if you want to get realistic daylight values, unless the average image brightness of the map image is normalized to one and it's brightness distribution doesn't interfere with the one defined by the sky model.

Buttonbar

Ok - use the entered values and close the dialog.

Cancel - discard the entered values and close the dialog.

Revert - discard the entered values and reset all fields to the values they had when the dialog opened.

Help... - display this information.
