Extended Simulation Settings

The left half of this dialog is explained under Simulation Settings.

[Extended Simulation Settings Dialog]

Resulting Parameters

This column shows you the simulation parameters that Rayfront has determined based on the basic simulation settings you have entered. If you don't override any parameters in the right most column, then the values shown here will be used.

The meaning of the parameters is explained in the next secion.

Override Parameters

If you have special requirements for your simulation that aren't met by the parameters generated automatically from the basic simulation settings, then you can override any of those values here. It is important that you know what you are doing if you enter any values here.

Diffuse Indirect Calculation (Ambient) Parameters

The parameters in this section specify the simulation behaviour for light that is bounced around in the scene diffusely. This is the most complicated part of the calculation, so there are quite a number of parameters that can be set.

Direct Calculation Parameters

The parameters in this section specify the simulation behaviour for light that is transmitted directly between a light source and the current surface. In most cases, this will change how shadows casted by other objects between this source and surface will appear in images.

Pixel Related Parameters

The parameters in this section only have meaning in simulations that result in an image, and will be ignored for numeric output. Note that, formally, the options "Pixel Aspect Ratio" and "Pixel Sample Jitter" from the "Other Settings" area also belong into this section.

Other Parameters

Some more details used mainly for finetuning optimisations in the simulation process.

Basic Options

The Hide Extended Settings-Button at the bottom of the dialog reduces its size, so that only the leftmost column remains visible. Note that any override parameters set here will still remain in effect, even if the entries are hidden!

Buttonbar

Ok - use the entered values and close the dialog.

Cancel - discard the entered values and close the dialog.

Revert - discard the entered values and reset all fields to the values they had when the dialog opened.

Help... - display this information.
